Zoo de la Barben

Location: On D572, 8kms east of Salon-de-Provence.
General Information: La Barben 13330.  www.zoolabarben.com. Tel No: 0(4) 90 55 19 12. There is a huge car park and for those who’d rather not walk into the main zoo there is a land train costing €1 per person. Open from 10.00-18.00 all year round. Costs of €13 for an adult and €7 for children ages from 6-12.
Description: A large, well-laid out zoo of more than 120 species in the grounds of  Barben Chateau, with a huge variety of animals.
Our recommendations: There is plenty here for a days worth of entertainment and even in peak season the place is so vast that it didn’t seem too busy. Within the main zoo there is also a large childrens play area, snack bars and back at the entrance a Vivarium (reptiles etc..) and an Oisellerie (birds). Although there are lots of opportunities to find shade the site is high up and exposed in places so take sun-bloc precautions.
For the children: Ideal for those animal-loving youngsters.
